Plant Profile

Another outstanding introduction from the world reknowned Dianthus breeder 'Whetmans'. Advances in breeding techniques and dedicated programs for Dianthus have led to the production of this stunning variety.

'Candy Floss' is a beautifully fragrant selection, easy to grow and exceptionally hardy. A compact form with stunning double pink flowers which age to darker pink edges as the bloom matures. Each petal is neatly toothed creating a very striking look. This variety also has unusually grey leaves which set off the flowers beautifully. The clove fragrance is best described as simply intoxicating, making 'Candy floss' a delight to enjoy on a warm summer evening.

'Candy Floss' has recently been recognised with a prestigous Award of Garden Merit (AGM) in the United Kingdom. The judges reported "The flowers are an outstanding colour, and the plants very floriferous with good strong stems and a neat habit."

Cultural Care

Dianthus 'Candy Floss' has low water requirements, and is quite dry tolerant once established. Will benefit from an occasional soak during periods of extended heat.

This low maintenance, easy to grow variety requires no special care. Pruning is generally not required, although removing spent flower heads will encourage further blooms.

For optimum performance, apply a slow release fertiliser during early spring according to manufacturers directions.
