| A very popular and easy to grow variety that produces masses of flowers.
Stunning flowers are produced in profusion in spring and summer. Early blooms in spring are double (up to 7cm across) with later flowers that are single, but plentiful, lasting well into autumn. Unlike most clematis cultivars Piilu doesn't have a mid-summer break. The flowers are considered to be large, light purplish pink with an eye catching wide dark purplish-red bar. Although many Clematis bloom only near the top of the plant, leaving the bottom bare, Piilu blooms top to bottom, ensuring a full display

| The roots of Clematis like to be kept cool, so plant this variety amongst low growing shrubs or bedding plants. If in containers, ensure pots are large enough for the roots to expand and develop.
Prune back annually for best results, removing dead flower heads. Initially they should be tied to help direct new growth.
Apply a liquid fertiliser annually and water regularly during periods of extended heat.
Prefers a fertile well drained soil. |
