PLANT PROFILE
B. 'Summer Cascade' is a new, weeping form of river birch that was discovered by John and Daniel Allen at Shiloh Nursery in Harmony, North Carolina, USA.

The tree has a unique, pendulous habit with graceful arching branches.

If untrained, the plant forms a mounded shrub or small tree with successive layers of arching branches. Alternatively, the plant can be staked/trained with a central trunk and pendulous branches.

This selection is quick growing reaching up to 1.8m in one growing season.

A great addition to the Australian garden.

B. 'Summer Cascade' is ideal for use as a specimen tree or focal point, particularly with water features, or for use in group plantings or creative design elements including bonsai.

Great to create a contrasting effect with other trees in a landscape which are more upright in habit.

'Summer Cascade' is a suitable size for residential properties where space may be at a premium.

An excellent specimen for public spaces where it may be planted alone or in groups or clumps with stunning results.

CULTURAL CARE
Best grown in moist fertile soil in full sun to part shade. Prefers a moist, well drained soil, but will tolerate a wide range of conditions.

If pruning is required, it should be carried out in late summer or early autumn.
